Our Feature in The Times with Anna Murphy: Meet Style and Simplicity

DISCOVERING YOUR STYLE PERSONALITY

We are thrilled to share our recent feature in The Times, where our founder, Alexandra Wood, had a fun and uplifting conversation with fashion editor Anna Murphy. It all started with a simple comment on Instagram, where Alexandra described Anna’s style as “experimentalist.” This sparked Anna’s curiosity, leading to an engaging feature about fashion, simplicity, and the art of tailoring for busy women.

The feature began serendipitously. Alexandra, known for her keen eye for style, spotted something unique in Anna Murphy’s fashion approach on Instagram. By naming her style “experimentalist,” Alexandra ignited a conversation that resonated with both of them. Anna, intrigued, reached out, and the rest is history.

OUR FOUNDERS PHILOSOPHY: SIMPLICITY AND FUN IN FASHION

In the interview, Alexandra emphasised her love for simplicity in fashion, especially when it comes to tailoring for women. Her approach is about making style fun and easy, especially for those who are too busy to dwell on fashion choices. Alexandra believes that fashion should not be a source of stress but a form of expression and joy. You can read the full Times piece here.

THREE PILLARS OF SMART STYLE INVESTMENTS

Alexandra shared her insights on the three main categories women should focus on to ensure their style investments are wise:

  1. Understanding Colours: Knowing which colours complement your skin tone and personality can transform your look. Alexandra talks about the importance of understanding what season you are in the colour analysis spectrum. “Knowing exactly what colours suit you is uplifting, confidence inspiring and fun!” Of course, only when you know how, which takes some exploration
  1. Acknowledging Body Shape: Women’s fashion must consider body shape. Alexandra emphasises tailoring clothing to flatter different body types, ensuring comfort and confidence. “As women, we all share completely different shapes, insecurities and desires. The right styles and designs boost confidence. It’s one of those things where you don’t know what you don’t know But when you do it’s pretty enlightening!”
  1. Blending the Elements Together:  The magic happens when colours and body shape considerations are expertly combined. This approach leads to a cohesive, flattering, and personal style.

THE FUN OF DISCUSSING STYLE PERSONALITIES WITH ANNA MURPHY

The conversation took an enjoyable turn when discussing style personalities. Anna, with her experimentalist flair, and Alexandra, with her expertise in tailoring, explored various fashion personas, demonstrating that style is an extension of individuality. We chatted about which celebrity fell into which category and why. Interestingly, the magic stops if the three elements aren’t combined with skill and care. One little tweak can make a big impact, just imagine what all three can do…

Our feature in The Times is not just about fashion; it’s a testament to how style can be simplified and made enjoyable. Alexandra Wood’s philosophy of making tailoring accessible and fun for busy women resonates deeply in today’s fast-paced world. It’s about creating less stress and more magic in your wardrobe.
